FOUR FREEDOMS FOUNDATION
Roosevelt Island is located on the East River between Manhattan and Queens. The island was previously home to a prison and test center, but now the island is mainly used for residential, commercial or public spaces. GOWANUS MUSEUM & RESEARCH CENTER
The Gowanus Canal of Brooklyn, New York has become the unfortunate recipient of increased pollution in recent years. Once a widespread wetland area, the canal now serves as a hub of industrial facilities that force residential and commercial business away from the water’s edge. With the assumption that the Canal has already begun to undergo cleaning processes via city efforts, the proposed Gowanus Museum & Research Center looks to bring the residents back to the water’s edge by reintroducing the wetlands back to the Brooklyn area along the bay. The Gowanus Museum & Research Center aims to be the first installation of many public centers to make the canal an area for public commerce, education and interactivity.

GOING UP
Located in Newark, New Jersey, NJIT takes on the dense urban fabric of the city. Newark as a whole has very little green space or vegetation and NJIT is no different. GOING UP looks to help remedy this issue by using a smaller footprint to bring a much needed lush greenspace for all students. The tower design also features many terraces to mimic the lush ground below. GOING UP is designed to act as a gateway into NJIT at the corner of Warren and Summit Streets and allows students to easily move through and around the site to reach their destination.
